So we're only two days away from leaving for our South
American cruise. We managed to navigate our way through the Celebrity
Cruise web site and reserve all the shore excursions that we want to go
on. For a company that provides superior service, I'm amazed that their
IT systems are overly complicated, inconsistent and only nominally functional
when they do work.
We are starting off in
Buenos Aries Argentina for four days. While here we be hanging our with our friends Catherine and Gil from Port Stanley. Then we travel up the Rio Plate to Montevideo and Punta
del Este Uruguay. From there we go south, down the Atlantic coast of
Argentina to Puerto Madryn where we hope to see a penguin rookery. From
there we go around Cape Horn, visiting several ports and taking scenic cruises
up the Chilean fjords. Among our stops are Ushuaia,
Argentina, Punta Arenas,
Chile and Puerto Montt,
Chile.
The first
part of the cruise terminates at San Antonio Chile, which is near the capital
city of Santaigo. Unfortunately there
doesn't seem to be any round trip excursions into the city. So we'll have to play it by ear and see what
is available when we get there.
From San
Antonio we continue north, up the Pacific coast of South American, stopping in Arica
Chile, Pisco Chile, Lima Peru for two days and Manta Ecuador. We then travel through the
Panama Canal and arrive in the Caribbean where will be visiting the Grand Cayman Island.
After that we end
our trip at Port Everglades in Florida.
All told
our vacation will take 35 days.
Here's hoping for good weather, interesting history and excellent food and wine.
