Today was a
day at sea with no ports of call.
Celebrity
Cruise Lines went all out for International Women’s Day. They held a big rally where the Captain read
a statement from the CEO of Celebrity declaring their policy of equality and
inclusiveness. Also all the women were encouraged to wear red as a sign of
solidarity. All the staff also wore red as a gesture of support.
In the
category of “Small Thinks Amuse Small Minds”, I was wondering if water actually
drained in a different direction south of the equator. It turns out it does, although it is hard to
tell because the ship’s pumps are very strong and pull the water out of the
toilet is straight down.
Also trying
to determining the time of day by the position of the sun is backwards. Looking north to the sun, it rises on the
right and sets on the left. That screws me up every time.
Unfortunately
we don’t get to see the southern constellations because the boat is well lite
up at night and this over powers the natural light of the night sky.
During the
afternoon, we went to our first trivia contest.
We didn’t do very well, so I guess we’ll have to wait until next time.
I stayed
out in the sun too long as usual. My excuse was that I was listening to the
poolside band. I’m now a bright red
colour. I guess I’ll never learn.
We went to
theatre to see a violinist named Amy Lee.
She was every personable and energetic.
Although she was trained in classical music she played many styles of
music from popular music, Broadway to country & western.
For dinner
Marg had Beef Bourgeon which she thought was excellent. I had Crispy Chicken in a tomato sauce which
was only so-so.
