Late last
night the Captain announced that because of the storm, it would unwise to
attempt to go into the Chilean Fjords. During most of the night the wind coming
from the west was so strong it seemed that our glass patio door would shatter
due to the force exerted on them by this gale. With that noise and the rocking
of the ship, it was almost impossible to sleep.
Today we
are out in the Pacific Ocean attempting to pass through the storm in the shortest
of period of time as possible. The waves
have reached heights of five to six meters and the wind has maintained a
velocity in the sixty km/hr range.
So we spent
most of the day doing indoor activities.
We went to another
MickeyLive seminar on Puerto
Montt, which is our next stop tomorrow.
This was followed by a “Liars Club” comedy show, which was very
entertaining. We then played trivia for
an hour and a half. Believe it or not,
the table next to us was using their smart phone to cheat. How pathetic is that?
The dinner
tonight was the Captain’s dinner. We
both had lobsters, but we could have chosen Beef Wellington or several other
high end gourmet meals. For dessert we
had Baked Alaska. I believe I’m putting
on way too much weight and we still have 16 more days to go.
The clouds
finally started to disperse around 5pm. At around 9pm we entered the Corcovado
Gulf, which leads north to Puerto Montt.
The waves and the winds have returned to normal. Hopefully we will be able to have a good
night’s sleep.
The
entertainment tonight was a return performance by Jordon Bennet and Salvatore
Hasard. Jordon Bennet performed an amazing piece of musical improv where he
asked the audience to tell him what their favourite song was and he them put them all together
with about fifty other songs into a musical montage. Salvatore Hasard then came out and rocked the
house. During his performance he sang “We are the World” in sync with the
musical video from the 1980’s. His
impersonations were limited and not as good as the Quebec artist Jean Phillipe
Gangne, but it was still entertaining.
Again the audience got an encore performance where he performed a rock
oriented version of Billy Jean.
